A brief summary of June to October 2016....and looking ahead
- shipping went mid June
- sold furniture and most other things in house in anticipation future sale
- mid July flew to HK and straight to serviced apartment near Yeda's folks
- a week later Yeda starts back at work two days a week
- settle into church, making some good new friends
- mid Aug move into rental apartment
- two days layer Matilda starts school near there
- Yeda back to her normal 3 day week but working long evenings at home due to London/new York calls
- two weeks later Selina starts kindergarten
- through the period I'm meeting agents and other contacts re jobs. Going through negotiations for a contract role at HSBC by mid Sep
- 23 Sep take Selina to GP to check out a big belly
- 24 Sep afternoon tea on 102nd floor of the tallest building HK for Yeda's mum's birthday
- 25 Sep family engagement celebration on Cheung Chau, a sweet & more primitive little fishing island where Yeda's dad grew up
- 26 Sep 9:30 selina goes for ultrasound for belly
- 26 Sep 11:30 GP refers her to A&E due to enlarged organs
- 26 Sep 15:00 admitted to paediatrics
- 27 Sep 10:00 blood tests
- 27 Sep 18:00 suspected blood cancer. Put on fluid drip.
- 28 Sep 12:00 selina sedated and bone marrow sample taken from base of spine
- 28 Sep 19:00 confirmed acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. moved to children's cancer ward and immediately put on medicine to attack cancerous cells
- following 3 weeks: life revolves around looking after her at hospital. Periods of vomiting (mercifully only a couple of days), refusing medicine (ongoing but getting better), screaming at even simple checks being done on her (ongoing)
- today: blood counts improving enough to allow her to come home tomorrow.
- tomorrow: a new chapter opens as home care kicks in looking after a 3 year old with next to no ability to fight infection.
- 6/9 months time: selina can start mixing with other kids again, maybe back to church for the first time.
- 2 1/2 years time: selina, God willing, declared clear of cancer.
